Disney Releases New Mulan Trailer

Although the filmmakers have confirmed that the new adaptation, starring Liu Yifei, wouldn't be a musical, a version of Reflection plays throughout the trailer, which was originally performed by Lea Salonga in the 1998 version.

Disney dropped a new trailer for its live-action remake of Mulan on Thursday, and it's packed with action and fierce imagery.

The film tells the same story as the animated original of a young woman who disguises herself as a man to take her elderly dad's place in the military.

"Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential".

"Loyal, fearless and true", she says in the trailer.

"It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation.and a proud father".

What did you think of this Mulan trailer? Along the way, she encounters the no-nonsense Commander Tung (Donnie Yen), the Emperor (Jet Li) and some kickass sidekicks, including a fire-breathing phoenix.

Back in July, we had our first look at the film, helmed by director Niki Caro (Whale Rider). "That's the thing I'm most excited about". It seems the live-action "Mulan" will instead focus on CGI creatures and sweeping martial-arts battle scenes.

Mulan will make a man out us all when it opens in theaters everywhere Friday, March 27.
