Chase with stolen UPS truck in Florida ends with shootout, 4 dead

Two other people were injured as a result of a motor crash, reportedly caused by the UPS truck's erratic driving, but both refused to go to the hospital for treatment.

"It would be inappropriate to discuss that", Piro said at a Thursday night news conference near the shooting scene in Miramar.

"As you can imagine, this is going to be a very complicated crime scene, " stated Special Agent George L. Piro.

Cops responded to Regent Jewelers on Mariana Avenue in less than two minutes to find that the suspects had exchanged gunfire with the store's proprietor, Hudak said.

The first call police received was a silent holdup alarm from the jewelry store at 4:17 p.m., Coral Gables Police Chief Edward Hudak Jr. said.

The FBI land office in Miami has taken the lead in the investigation.

Amid the pursuit, Coral Gables' City Hall was also placed on lockdown when a bullet struck its widow.

Giant planet discovered orbiting dead white dwarf star for the first time
Perhaps the answer lies in a new observation that represents the first evidence of a giant exoplanet around a white dwarf. This is what scientists think they are seeing around WDJ0914+1914: the first evaporating planet orbiting a white dwarf .

An armed robbery at a Florida jewelry store Thursday led to the hijacking of a UPS truck and a massive police chase that ended in a fatal shootout in Broward County.

At one point during the chase, the line of emergency vehicles chasing the UPS truck stretched for approximately half a mile on roads behind the truck.

After exiting I-75, the truck made its way through Pembroke Pines and Miramar with dozens of officers in pursuit.

When the truck finally stopped in traffic gridlock, the robbers appeared to open fire on police. After the shooting, paramedics rushed to treat the injured men.

News helicopters were following the chase and at least one showed the conclusion live, with one person falling out of the vehicle's passenger side after several shots were fired.

UPS released a statement, saying, "We are deeply saddened to learn a UPS service provider was a victim of this senseless act of violence". "We extend our condolences to the family and friends of our employee and the other innocent victims involved in this incident".

Meanwhile, the UPS expressed gratitude to law enforcement, vowing to cooperate with an investigation into the robbery-gone-wrong.
