Two Injured In Indonesia Grenade Explosion

According to local media reports, an explosion took place at Indonesia's National Monument park, located near the presidential palace in the central part of Indonesia's capital of Jakarta.

Jakarta military chief Major General Eko Margiyono informed that the duo (soldiers) were doing morning exercises when a suspicious object was spotted.

The wounded victims were the eye witnesses because they were among individuals who firstly knew and heard the blast.

The attack took place near the National monument park which is a high-security area in Jakarta.

"We immediately secured the area", Jakarta police chief Gatot Eddy said in a press conference, adding that the blast occurred at the north side of the park at around 7.15am local time.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.

"We're now investigating why the smoke grenade was there", Jakarta police chief Gatot Edy told reporters, adding that the two injured had been rushed to hospital.

It is not yet known what caused the explosion.
