Focus Mode leaves Digital Wellbeing beta, gains handy new features

With its exiting of beta, Google detailed that the Digital Wellbeing extension will have a few new features to play with.

Google brought Focus Mode to its Digital Wellbeing suite back in August, giving you another way to stay productive. With the latest update to the Digital Wellbeing app on Android, you can experience it in your Android smartphone. If you try to open them, Focus mode will "remind you that app is paused", Android project manager Dayson Pais writes in a blog post announcing the rollout.

Focus mode is a feature that makes a lot of sense - as nice as smartphones are, the apps we use throughout the day can definitely serve as distractions when it's time to put the phone down and get to work. "For example, we've added an option to automatically turn Focus mode on and off for the days and times that you choose". Since then, Google has expanded access to Digital Wellbeing features and further integrated its features - including parent control app Family Link - into the Android OS. The first new feature is the ability to create a schedule for the mode.

Work has also been completed on the first road bridge between Russian Federation and China, further linking the two neighbours. The pipeline has a 3,000-km section in Russian Federation , known as the Power of Siberia, and a 5,111-km stretch in China.

To access Focus mode, you need an Android 9 or 10 handset that supports Google's Digital Wellbeing & parental controls capabilities. You can also now take a short break from Focus Mode at any time.

It has also developed digital wellbeing apps outside of its core Digital Wellbeing product, with October's launch of a handful of wellbeing experiments.
