Amazon Launches First Battery-powered Portable Echo Speaker

Spurred by the success of Echo smart speakers and the growing smart home market in India, Amazon has come up with a portable Echo Input speaker for Indian customers.

If Amazon's recent spate of smart home product launches is anything to go by, it appears that the company wants to fill every niche possible. Follow the Source link if you want one. Likewise, the new Echo can also be taken into the bedroom, dining room, kitchen... wherever you have a strong Wi-Fi signal.

"Portability has been one of the most requested features in India", Miriam Daniel, VP of Alexa Devices, said.

The speaker boasts all the trademark features of the Echo series such as the Alexa voice assistant which can answer queries, make a call, play music and control other compatible smart devices at home. When we find out for sure, we'll let you know.

Despite the usefulness of being able to carry Alexa around with you as you move from room to room, Amazon has no plans to bring the rechargeable Echo to the UK, US or mainland Europe. Is the concept of a portable smart speaker interesting to you or should Amazon stick to its "traditional" Echo designs?

Interestingly, Amazon has tried a battery-powered Echo in the United States before. "We're excited to offer this new Alexa experience in India, and we can not wait to see how our Indian customers enjoy the flexibility of a portable Alexa in their homes", Parag Gupta, Head of Amazon Devices India said in a press release.

Nunes denied the claims at the time, but CNN said that he did not respond to them for comment. "It must be held accountable". CNN is eroding the fabric of America, proselytizing, sowing distrust and disharmony.

As the name implies, the Echo Input, which debuted previous year, allows individuals to extend their existing "dumb" speakers with the Amazon's Alexa voice assistant.

For those in the West, there are some third-party accessories created to bring portability to the Amazon Echo. On standby, it should last 11 hours.

The highlight of the speaker is the built-in 4,800mAh battery which the company claims to offer a up to 10-hours of uninterrupted usage.

If you thought Amazon was done releasing new devices into its Echo smart speaker line-up, think again. Amazon will start shipping out units on December 18.

It's priced at 5,999 Indian rupees, which works out at around $84 / £70 / AU$160 based on current conversion rates - although the pricing could be quite different when it launches in Western markets.
