Socceroos to face Argentina at Copa America

The draw is grueling for all involved, with Group A containing Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Asian Cup holders Qatar have been drawn in Group B and will face co-hosts Colombia, defending champions Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.

Argentina will play host for one of the semi finals as the Monumental will be one of the two venues for one of the semi finals.

The former worldwide striker speaks from experience: Arnold was a member of the Socceroos team which lost to a Diego Maradona-inspired Argentina in a 1993 playoff for a spot in the 1994 World Cup.

The draw for the 2020 Copa America took place on Tuesday, with the 12-team tournament bringing together 10 countries from South America along with Australia and Qatar on an invite basis. It will be co-hosted by Colombia and Argentina.

Qatar made their debut at the tournament this year, drawing their first match against Paraguay before falling to Colombia and Argentina.

However, a loss in the MAC Tournament semifinals took away an opportunity for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. John's earned its third overall NCAA berth by winning the Big East Conference Tournament this past weekend.

Next year, the tournament will instead see two first round groups of six teams.

Argentina last won the Copa America in 1993 and the nation is desperate to finally get their hands on the trophy once again. Argentina defeated Chile in the third place play-off at this year's tournament.

Four teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.

Australia will open their tournament against Uruguay on June 13.

Scaloni hopes 32-year-old Messi, who will again be aiming to win his first senior worldwide trophy, plays beyond the 2020 Copa.
