Mental As Anything co-founder Andrew 'Greedy' Smith passes away

Founding Mental As Anything member Andrew "Greedy" Smith has died at 63.

Mombassa said he would recall his pal and bandmate as "the most wonderful and pleased person I have ever met in my lifestyles".

"He'll be sorely missed by all the people that knew him".

"One of the healthiest guys I've seen", Mr Bartlett said.

Greedy was on the road with the current line up of the Mental's when he past away.

Even 30 years after their biggest hits, Smith was still touring with the Mentals and last performed in the southern NSW town of Tathra on Saturday night. "The band's debut album featured the song 'The Nips Are Getting Bigger", which charted inside the top 20 in Australia and is still regularly played - among many other Mental As Anything songs - on radio stations around the country. That's one every two-and-a-half days.

Rapists should be lynched in public: Jaya Bachchan on vet's rape, murder
Jaya Bachchan further said, "What has happened, how they have tackled it and how far the justice has been done to these people". According to a remand report accessed by NDTV, three of the accused allegedly forced the woman into a bush and raped her .

Smith helped found Mental As Anything in 1976 while he and his fellow band members - Martin Murphy, Chris O'Doherty (aka Reg Mombassa), Steve Coburn and David Twohill - were studying at an art college in Sydney. I've never known him to be sick.

Smith who was the most effervescent of his band mates on stage, wrote about half of the songs, the rest were the work of Plaza, who he shared frontman duties with, and who is now battling cancer.

"At this time our grief and confusion are less than what Andrews circle of relatives must be feeling - our hearts and prayers go out to him".

His band mates gave a glimpse of their own shock in a tribute posted on Facebook.

As the ABC reports, Smith was inducted into the Australian Songwriters Association Hall of Fame a few weeks ago.

He is survived by way of his fiancee Fiona docker and son Harvey.
