GOP report: Evidence 'does not prove' Trump pressured Ukraine for political benefit

That backs up earlier congressional testimony from U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia who said diplomats knew about the freeze by the time of the phone call.

Further casting doubt on the GOP theory of Ukraine engaging in a coordinated attack on the US election, Politico reported this week that the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee already investigated the possibility and didn't find the evidence it was looking for.

"I am not", Hale replied. "There is also nothing wrong with asking serious questions about the presence of Vice President Biden's son, Hunter Biden, on the board of directors of Burisma, a corrupt Ukrainian company, or about Ukraine's attempts to influence the 2016 presidential election".

On Twitter Monday, President Trump wrote, "Breaking News: The President of Ukraine has just again announced that President Trump has done nothing wrong with respect to Ukraine and our interactions or calls". US intelligence officials, however, described Russia's influence efforts as "informational warfare" to harm Clinton's campaign and benefit Trump's.

"Every elected official in the Ukraine was for Hillary Clinton", Burr told NBC News. "The President can say that they meddled because they had a preference, the elected officials, that's not the current people".

Burr's committee reportedly looked into those allegations, however, and found no evidence to support them.

"I think both Russian Federation and Ukraine meddled in the 2016 election", Kennedy said.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., excoriated Republican lawmakers on Monday for "increasingly outlandish claims" that Ukraine meddled in the 2016 election, calling it "a lie spread by Vladimir Putin".

The 123-page report, authored by Republican staff of the Intelligence, Oversight and Foreign Affairs panels, pans the impeachment inquiry as "an orchestrated campaign to upend our political system" and argues that the evidence does not prove Democrats' allegations against Trump.

Outside the hearing, Sen.

Investigations by every major US intelligence agency found that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 USA elections and is continuing to try and interfere in the the 2020 USA elections.

When Wallace pushed back, noting that the Senator was contradicting the nation's intelligence community, Kennedy - an attorney who has earned degrees from the University of Virginia, Vanderbilt, and Oxford - said, "Right".
