Carl Frampton targets a third World title after Las Vegas win

The Belfast boxer won by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring it 100-88.

"There is talk of facing Jamel Herring next for his WBO super-featherweight title, and that definitely interests me", Frampton explained.

Vote in the Irish Independent Sport Star Awards and you could win the ultimate sports prize.

Frampton added that he would be equally happy to challenge in Belfast or NY against Herring, who has won 21 of his 23 fights.

"I know he's a champ, I just want to fight for a world title next, I want to be involved in big fights, and I would love the opportunity to fight Jamel".

The conditions contrast sharply with those of two Canadians detained by China on vague espionage charges after Meng's arrest. They're being held in a detention centre and are allowed exclusively rare visits from consular employees.

McCreary went down twice in the fight in Las Vegas, from a body shot in round six and from hooks to the body in the ninth. "I just want to fight for a world title next", Frampton told the BBC.

Speaking to ESPN, Frampton said: "It's the first time I've met Jamel, my impression of him before I met him was that he's a nice guy and he's lived up to the impression I had of him". I thought I'd never fight in Belfast again, but there's talk of it being at Windsor Park in spring next year, so it can't get much better than that.

"I'm not the champion, he's the champion".

If the 32-year-old wins the super featherweight belt, he would become the first three-world champion in Ireland. "I just wanted to be safe with my hands".
