The bulk of the precipitation is expected to fall throughout the day on Sunday.

"Strong wind gusts up to 70 km/h and local blowing snow reducing visibilities are also possible", said the national weather service.

According to the government agency, areas in including Mississauga and Brampton may see several hours of freezing rain or ice pellets Sunday morning before it turns into light snow or freezing drizzle in the afternoon.

The city of Hamilton and Niagara along with several other parts of southeastern Ontario are under a freezing rain warning.
