Valve, the creators of Half-Life and the Steam platform, today announced Half-Life: Alyx, a new, full-length virtual reality entry in the Half-Life series. "Everyone at Valve is excited to be returning to the world of Half-Life", Valve founder Gabe Newell wrote in a press release. It turns out, they briefly hesitated between Half-Life and Portal IP for their big VR project, but a Portal VR game would have probably made lots of people sick, while the Half-Life oeuvre translated very well into VR, with exploration and puzzles as part of its DNA.

"The more we explored those mechanics, the more we realized that in order for us to deliver a keyboard and mouse experience, we would have to ship a game that's missing many of those interactions", Casali. More demanding games like Half-Life: Alyx require a GTX 1060, which is the most popular card amongst Steam users. The game also promises a layered story that connects to characters from other Half-Life games. You can get more insight into the game with the full description here.
