Air New Zealand declared world's best airline 2020

Air New Zealand declared world's best airline 2020

"Our 12,500 employees both on the ground and in the air are committed to offering the best travel experience on the 17 million customer journeys we facilitate every year, so it's fantastic to have these efforts recognised by such an esteemed global judging panel".

Air New Zealand has knocked Singapore Airlines off its throne to reclaim the title of world's best airline for the sixth time.

This is the sixth time Air New Zealand has been given the top award, with airlines assessed based on a range of factors including safety, environmental leadership, and motivation of its staff. Last year, Singapore Airlines ranked number one in the list.

"Air New Zealand's commitment to excellence in all facets of its business starts at the top with outstanding governance and one of the best executive teams in aviation through to a workforce that is delivering consistently to the airline's strategy and customer promise", Mr Thomas says.

"In the past 10 years the airline has reduced its fuel burn and thus carbon emissions by nearly 22%, ahead of the industry average", he says "The airline has been a pioneer in a number of important industry initiatives such as biofuels and more efficient flight paths as well as a host of on-ground improvements such as electric vehicles".

"In our evaluation Air New Zealand got here out primary in most of our audit standards, which is an excellent efficiency when it's up towards carriers with extra sources and scale", says Geoffrey Thomas, editor-in-chief of AirlineRatings.com.

The airline has just launched its 32nd worldwide destination, a return to Seoul in South Korea after an absence of 22 years.

'Deadpool' Star Ryan Reynolds Now Owns Wireless Carrier Mint Mobile
" Deadpool " star Ryan Reynolds has taken on a new gig as part owner - and pitchman - for low-priced mobile carrier Mint Mobile . About his investment in Mint, Reynolds had this to say, "It's a bit unconventional which is why I like it".

Air New Zealand acting chief executive Jeff McDowall said the airline was honoured to take out the award.

"Our editors said the competition for top spot was tight with Singapore Airlines, Qantas and All Nippon Airways just being pipped at the post", Thomas said.

Singapore Airlines won best first class, Qatar Airways best business class and Virgin Australia best economy class.

Best Inflight Entertainment was awarded to Emirates, while the Most Improved Airline award went to Cebu Pacific.

Instead, Delta Air Lines took the top spot for the Americas, Lufthansa grabbed the gong in Europe, Emirates won in the Middle-East and Africa and Cathay Pacific Airways cinched the title in Asia-Pacific.

AirlineRatings.com on November 25 released its annual best airlines list and announced other winners of airline excellence awards.

Virgin Australia won Best Economy for an "extremely spacious cabin that sets it apart from many airlines", plus Best Cabin Crew.
