Everything you need to know about Baby Yoda

Baby Yoda's behavior in Chapter 2 of the series - repeatedly climbing out of its crib - leads us to believe the creature is a toddler. We know next to nothing about this mysterious green alien baby, but we'll be darned if it doesn't look exactly like a mini version of Yoda, one of the most beloved characters in all of Star Wars. Let us know in the comments!

The identity of The Child, which The Mandalorian co-star Werner Herzog called "heartbreakingly lovely", is masked in secrecy. But what about the new "Baby Yoda", introduced in the current Disney + show The Mandalorian? (That's right, no more lugging out the full DVD set!) It's also possible that (Not) Baby Yoda is actually Yoda. Rather, it's a member of Yoda's species, one the third we've met in the Star Wars canon. How they're related is still a mystery, but there is a fan theory backed by some easter eggs. It is no surprise why Pascal's Mandalorian took one look at this small wrinkled child and made a decision to risk his life to protect it; any one of us would have done the same. And the virtual reality component that they focus on here is being utilized for The Mandalorian as well.

The show's director says it's totally fine to call it Baby Yoda.

Many Baby Yoda looking up memes portray situations in which a child is looking up to an authority figure. Expect everything from a stuffed animal to a Funko Pop!, and some of it could arrive by this holiday season.

Social media is filled with people professing their love (and willingness to take a bullet or several) for Baby Yoda.
