Anu Malik steps down as judge from 'Indian Idol'

"I have not quit the show".

"I'm in pain. I'm in a dark space". However, the channel re-instated the music composer for the new season which once again triggered a controversy, over which many, such as Sona Mohapatra, Neha Bhasin and Shweta Pandit, have been very vocal, and stood in solidarity against Anu Malik. Recently, singer Sona Mohapatra had penned an open letter on social media against him.

She added, "Sony TV took a long time to do this but I am happy that he has finally stepped down from the show". I believe this victory is for all of us to celebrate. "It's a battle of the whole country", she told NDTV. Our fight is not over yet, it's just a start. "There are so many people who did not want to see this person (Malik) flaunting himself on national television because it gives a lot of wrong messages to predators that they can also get away with such a thing".

Clarifying that it was his call rather than the show sacking him, Anu told the daily, "I have issued a statement to the channel 'I, Anu Malik, have made a decision to take a break from Indian Idol as I am now unable to focus on my work on the show.' The channel has been kind to agree for the same". "We are not going to sit here and let people take us for granted". If they had any doubts about me, they wouldn't have approached me at all.

She tweeted on Thursday, "Thank you to all the women & men & the media of India who supported our campaign #MoveOutMalik".

I'm motivated. "Yes, I think we will get on well", he added. "I know them well but you never know them well enough until you meet them".

Sony TV was sent a notice by the National Commission of Women. The commission also shared the notice on their official Twitter handle.

Her letter was posted to Twitter and demanded the channel to clarify the action they have undertaken to solve the matter.

In an open letter, he wrote, "It's disgraceful that at this age, I have to watch the most slanderous words and horrifying incidents being associated with my name". "She is an fantastic woman".

Anu Malik revealed his decision to Times of India, in which he stated, "he wants to go on a three-week break from the show, and will come back after his name is cleared".
