Sweden Drops Investigation of Julian Assange

Sweden Drops Investigation of Julian Assange

According to the Swedish prosecutor's office, a total of seven witness interviews were conducted as part of this investigation during the summer of 2019.

During a court appearance yesterday in the United Kingdom, lawyers for Assange said he believes he is now unable to work on his defence in the extradition case because he has been given an unsuitable computer in prison.

Swedish prosecutors have dropped a preliminary rape investigation into WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Announcing the decision, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Eva-Marie Persson told members of the press that "time" had played a significant role in discontinuing the sexual assault probe.

The Prosecution Authority said that its decision could be appealed.

The news follows a ruling in June by a Swedish court that rejected a request to detain the Wikileaks founder.

There was also "philausophy", the current Tourism Australia campaign, aka the typo that cost taxpayers a cool $38 million. Broadhead Co, a marketing agency based in Minneapolis, created the 'Meth. "We're On It" campaign.

He recently served his term for violating his bail terms, when he sought asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London in 2012, but is still in custody while his extradition case is ongoing.

He is also fighting extradition to the USA, which accuses him of publishing secret documents. The United States wants Assange on hacking charges.

Appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court via video-link, Assange wore a grey prison-issue jumper and spoke only to confirm his identity. "Her statements have been coherent, extensive and detailed; however, my overall assessment is that the evidential situation has been weakened to such an extent that that there is no longer any reason to continue the investigation", she said in a statement published by Sweden's prosecution authority.

"After months of battle he was provided with a computer but it is not the sort of computer needed to work on the case".
