Street Fighter V: Champion Edition announced alongside DLC character Gill

Champion Edition collects nearly everything that's been released for the fighter so far, but there's more coming to the game before its launch. In addition, if you already own Street Fighter V and want access to Champion Edition content as it becomes available in the lead up to release, you can pay $24.99 to upgrade.

However, even after that first revision, Capcom kept plugging away at its prize fighter, adding a bunch of new characters and costumes and stages.

All added up, the game will include 40 characters, 34 stages, and a costume collection that numbers north of 200.

Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition arrives February 14 on PC and PS4 (physical and digital), priced $30/£25. We'll see what else Capcom has to say about the Champion Edition between now and release, so stay tuned for that. In addition to the main game and the included characters, stages and costumes, new V-Skills for each character and a balance update will be released, adding new gameplay improvements and more depth to the combat system. The exceptions are the Fighting Chance and brand collaboration costumes, as well as the Capcom Pro Tour DLC.

If you're a fighting game fan who has somehow managed to avoid buying Street Fighter V up until this point, then it sounds like the Champion Edition is the game to get. Fighters can battle their way through a variety of exciting single-player and multiplayer modes designed for players of all skill levels, including Story Mode, Arcade Mode, Team Battle, Ranked Match, Casual Match, and more.

That's despite being closed on Sundays, a practice that goes back to its founder Truett Cathy's religious beliefs. The spokeswoman added the company would focus its giving on "education, homelessness and hunger".

It's been almost four years since Street Fighter V first launched, and now it seems Capcom is finally ready to launch a definitive version of the game.

And here's a brief blurb for Gill if you have missed Street Fighter III and aren't familiar with him.

Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition will include a new fighter. It does not, however, include certain content, such as Fighting Chance costumes, Capcom Pro Tour DLC and other brand collaborations.

In total: 40 characters, 34 stages and over 200 costumes! All downloadable content characters released after the original version are available for current players by using earned Fight Money or real money.
