House Investigating Whether Trump Lied to Mueller

It comes at the outset of the second week of public hearings in the inquiry, which is investigating whether Mr Trump abused power by pressuring his Ukrainian counterpart to launch probes into Joe Biden, the Democratic frontrunner in the 2020 presidential race, and his son Hunter Biden.

Democrats had not reacted to Trump's suggestion and it was not clear if they would indeed agree to it, knowing how unhappy they were with the president testifying only in writing to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Pelosi said lawmakers would "look forward" to seeing any information from Trump "that is exculpatory, that means ex, taking away, culpable, blame".

House general counsel Douglas Letter made the statement to the court to explain why the congressmen need access quickly to secret grand jury material Mueller gathered during his probe. I raise this point because I believe that a significant number of bureaucrats and staff members within the executive branch have never accepted President Trump as legitimate and resent his unorthodox style and his intrusion onto their "turf".

Democrats say Trump demanded that Ukraine investigate his Democratic rivals in return for US military aid it needed to resist Russian aggression and that may be grounds for removing the 45th president. Instead, after extensive negotiations, Trump provided written answers to questions from Mueller's office. Trump "could come right before the committee and talk, speak all the truth that he wants if he wants", she said.

Three State Department officials have already testified about their concerns as Trump pushed Ukraine to investigate Democrats and withheld military aid from the country.

Several witnesses testified last week that they were alarmed over the pressure tactics used against Ukraine, as well as the role of Trump's personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.

At the time of writing, it seems that 2K Games has regained control of both platforms. There's also been mention of a user called "aqua" who may have been involved as well.

File - U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland walks to a secure area of the Capitol to testify as part of the House impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, in Washington.

The hearings could pave the way for the House to approve articles of impeachment - formal charges - against Trump. The money, approved by the U.S. Congress to help U.S. ally Ukraine combat Russia-backed separatists, was later provided.

Pelosi's challenge was paired with a warning not to go after the whistleblower who sparked the impeachment inquiry - though Democrats initially had indicated that the whistleblower could testify. Sondland probably will be asked about testimony by a U.S.

"There's one witness, one witness that they won't bring in front of us, they won't bring in front of the American people, and that's the guy who started it all, the whistle-blower", Republican Jim Jordan said on November 13.

I do not know if Vindman accurately stated the NSC's position, whether President Trump shared that viewpoint, or whether Vindman was really just expressing his own view.
