Dick Cheney Cardiologist: Trump Walter Reed Trip ‘Worrisome’, ‘Unusual’

One source told CNN that Trump's visit was "abnormal" but he'd appeared to be in good health late Friday. Several experts familiar with White House medical procedures said that Trump can get routine labwork done at the White House's on-site clinic, indicating Trump needed tests that can't be done there.

Amid mass speculation on the president's health, the White House released a statement from President Donald Trump's physician saying that Trump's physical evaluation on Saturday was routine, and that Trump was not treated for any acute or urgent medical issues.

Another puzzling aspect of the story: The medical staff at Walter Reed were not given advance notice of Trump's visit as protocol dictates, according to CNN. "As a [former] USSS Agent assigned POTUS, I have never seen the annual formality occur in stages". "A routine exam to draw some blood, just to just sort of check the president's height and weight can be done on the ground floor of the White House".

Vox journalist Aaron Rupar tweeted that "Trump's trip to the hospital was "routine" in the same way his call with the Ukrainian president was "perfect.'" Meanwhile, progressive website DailyKos published a post early Sunday morning titled "Trump and his 'chest discomfort" go to Walter Reed" with screenshots of unsubstantiated internet rumors about the president's health.

Grisham further defended Trump on Fox News in an interview with host Jeanine Pirro, who described Trump as "almost superhuman".

"I've given plenty of on the record statements that were truth and accurate", she said.

Whatever may have prompted the president's visit to Walter Reed Hospital on Saturday, Trump was apparently back to his usual self by Sunday.

"Also began phase one of my yearly physical", he added. "Will complete next year".

Detailed results were not released; he said he would finish the exam in 2020.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN's medical correspondent, pointed out on Monday morning that a hospital visit wouldn't have been necessary for Trump if he were merely taking routine lab tests. "I visited the White House medical unit in the White House itself, and they can do most of these things there", said Gupta. You go to a hospital like Walter Reed for testing that is not available in the White House.
