Officials Report Second Vaping-Related Death in Missouri

Forty-two people in 24 states have died.

Cigarette smoking dropped to an all-time low among American adults in 2018, according to a Center for Disease Control (CDC) report released Thursday.

Dr. Anne Schuchat, principal deputy director of the CDC, has stressed that nicotine-containing vaping products without THC can not be ruled out as a potential cause of harm. The CDC said almost 18.8 percent of tobacco users use two or more products.

The age vary of sufferers is from 13 to people of their 70s - however, most are men of their 20s and 30s, and most reported vaping products they purchased off the road or acquired from friends that contained THC, marijuana's psychoactive ingredient. E-cigarette use clocked in at 3.2%.

Last week, the agency revealed the chemical Vitamin E Acetate could be causing these injuries when it's mixed with THC. Last week, Trump said he wanted to protect jobs, and that vaping had become a "pretty big industry". According to the FDA, more than 3.6 million kids used e-cigarettes in 2018.

"E-cigarettes and vaping products are not safe", said Director of Health Bruce Anderson.

NEW YORK (AP) - The number of vaping illnesses in the U.S.is still rising, but at a slower pace.

DOH has issued an updated medical advisory to physicians to assist in identifying patients who may have lung injury related to e-cigarettes and vaping. "Given the alarming revelations coming to light, many more are likely to be filed", says Tsion Chudnovsky, a prominent product liability lawyer at Chudnovsky Law.

Juul, a popular e-cigarette maker, has stopped all sales of its fruit and "dessert" flavored nicotine pods because of the growing concern surrounding youth vaping. Some patients have had so much trouble breathing that they wind up on oxygen, and in extreme cases are placed on a mechanical ventilator.

"The sustained drop in adult smoking is encouraging as we work to reduce tobacco-related disease and death in the USA through science-driven policy, compliance and enforcement in addition to public education", added Admiral Brett Giroir, assistant secretary of health and acting FDA commissioner.
