At least seven killed in gas explosion in Bangladesh

At least seven people were killed and eight injured in the blast, a police official said.

The pipeline exploded in entrance of a five-storey building, blowing a few of its partitions off, Mohammad Mohsin mentioned, citing witnesses.

Police officials have been quoted as saying that there may have been a problem with the gas riser (pipe) or whether the explosion was caused by morning cooking activities or cigarettes. The death toll may rise, Boshak added.

The phone call occurred on July 26, one day after the now-infamous phone conversation between Trump and Zelenskiy. Trump defended his attack on Yovanovitch, saying he had the right to free speech.

Police Chief Mohammed Mohsin said 25 people were also taken to the hospital and firefighters have officially joined the rescue efforts. "We primarily came to know that due to the gas pipeline blast, a part of a building collapsed", he added. A boundary wall fell on the people on the road.

Faulty gas pipelines and substandard cylinders often cause accidents in the south Asian country, blamed on lax monitoring.

In October this year, seven people including six children were killed after a gas cylinder used to inflate balloons exploded in capital city Dhaka.
