Nicolas Cage could play Nicolas Cage in a film about Nicolas Cage

Hollywood star Nicolas Cage is all set to play himself in the upcoming film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. The movie will be produced by Cage and directed by co-writer Tom Gormican.

Cage also has a back-and-forth with a haughty 1990s persona of himself who chides him for a lackluster list of recent credits and for letting his star burn out. Facing massive debt, Cage winds up making a special appearance at a Mexican billionaire's birthday party, learning the man is a huge Cage fan with hopes of showing the actor a script he's been working on. But, in a "National Treasure"-like twist, the Central Intelligence Agency informs Cage that the billionaire is a drug kingpin, and they'd like Cage's help trying to bust him". The predicament gets worse when the billionaire brings Cage's daughter and ex-wife for a reconciliation and he must take on the role of a lifetime to save their lives. Cage will also produce via his Saturn Films banner, alongside Mike Nilon and Kevin Turen.

Blazers signing Carmelo Anthony to non-guaranteed deal
It's unlikely that Anthony is ready to suit up two days after signing his contract to compete against the Spurs on Saturday. Portland is now sitting at 4-8 on the season, following back-to-back losses against the Kings and Raptors.

Nicholas Cage won the best actor Academy Award for 1995's Leaving Las Vegas and also starred in The Rock, Face/Off and Con Air.

There's now no word on when we can expect The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent to hit the big screen. Interest seemed to bubble up simultaneously when many began thinking that the script itself could be sellable and, mind blown, what if Cage himself did it? Gormican assured Cage it was written with love to him, with no intention to poke fun at his career. Amazingly, the actor became attached to the film in the last few weeks. News coming in from The Hollywood Reporter is that Cage could be returning to cinema screens in the very near future as a deal with movie studio Lionsgate nears final negotiations.
