Man kills wife, three young sons in San Diego home

Police received a 911 call early Saturday in which dispatchers heard the sound of arguing in the background, Lt. Matt Dobbs said.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Police say the shooter was not living at the home and apparently came over Saturday morning before getting in a dispute.

Police said the shooting was related to domestic violence and called it a "murder-suicide".

Dobbs said when officers arrived, they found a 3-year-old boy, a 29-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man dead inside. A 5-year-old boy and 9-year-old boy were taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead, KTLA sister station KSWB reported. The officers then broke out a front window and once inside found the rest of the family suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers had responded to a property dispute at the address around November 1, police said, and instructed the mother, now deceased, how to obtain a restraining order.

"A couple weeks ago around November 1, officers responded to the same address over a dispute about property", San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit said in a press conference Saturday afternoon.

"I just pray for that family", one neighbor said. Two of those boys died and another one is in critical condition undergoing emergency surgery, though it is not clear which one survived, Dobbs said. The mother lived in a granny flat with the children, Dobbs said.

Police Chief David Nisleit said counseling was being provided to the first-responders, some of whom carried the children out of the house to get medical treatment.

The mom, who had not been named by authorities as of Saturday afternoon, lived with her kids in an apartment on the property, while their relatives lived in the main residence, neighbors told ABC 10.

"They knocked on the front door of the granny flat but they heard no response, so they went over to the back of the granny flat and, through the window, they saw a child down, covered in blood", reporter Rina Nakano said, citing information from San Diego Police.
