'Hunger' drives India to feast at top of Test table

India are seeming unstoppable in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship, having racked up 300 points, a country mile above the rest.

Riding on one of the most hostile fast bowling performances in recent times, India thrashed Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs inside three days in the first Test. Barring that, the hosts hardly put a foot wrong.

That was enough for Bangladesh to surrender as the middle-order failed to apply itself as Mushfiqur fought a lone battle.

Yadav took a liking to Ebadat Hossain, collecting two back-to-back sixes off the medium pacer. The Karnataka batter notched 243 off 330 with 28 fours and eight fours.

Cheteshwar Pujara (54), Ajinkya Rahane (86) and Ravindra Jadeja (60) all reached half-centuries on a chastening day for Bangladesh, who had four members of their attack go for triple figures by the close.

Shadman Islam (6) also matched his first-innings score before he was bowled through the gate by Ishant Sharma (1-31), with Bangladesh sinking to 44-4 before lunch with skipper Mominul Haque (7) and Mohammad Mithun (18) out to Shami - Mominul lbw and Mithun caught. Bangladesh's batting collapsed once again in the second innings in the face of a devastatingly fast bowling attack by the Indians.

Mohammed Shami took four wickets in the second innings, taking his number of wickets in the match to seven.

Mominul Haque (Bangladesh skipper): "Toss definitely impacted the outcome, it's been hard".

After beating South Africa in their last Test series, India created a world record of 11 consecutive series victories at home. Mushfiqur was superb with the bat in both innings, Liton did well too.

The Top-2 teams will play the final at the Lord's. We will look to enjoy the next pink ball Test match.

On the first day of the match, Team India had bowled through the Bangladeshi batting line up for 150 runs. I can't say something which people are not seeing on TV. This is a dream combination for any captain. The slip fielders are ready as they know the ball can come any over. The numbers and records are there for everyone to see, that'll remain in the books, we haven't focused on it. "The intent is right".

"The mindset is simple, when you see a young guy coming in to bat, in Tests I know how much time it took me to get those big hundreds, so I know the importance of getting big runs". I don't want the guys to make the same mistakes that I made.
