Grounded: Obsidian Reveals New Co-Op Survival Game

The next game from Obsidian Entertainment, Grounded, was announced during Inside Xbox Live at X019 today. It is the first Obsidian developed title to be published under Xbox Game Studios since the studio was acquired by Microsoft late a year ago.

The world is a vast, beautiful, and risky place - especially when you have been shrunken to the size of an ant. The whole world is very literally your backyard; because you're so small, this makes for a sizable map on which to craft items and build bases using everyday objects that, to you, are as big as houses. Grounded is a survival game where you play as one of various characters with a twist.

It's quite a departure for Obsidian, a studio that spends most of its time working on RPGs like Tyranny, Pillars of Eternity, Fallout: New Vegas, and recent smash - the absolutely-not-Fallout-in-space - The Outer Worlds. Can you thrive alongside the hordes of giant insects, fighting to survive the perils of the backyard?

"Grounded offers our unique take on survival games, creating an unforgettable experience", said Adam Brennecke, Game Director at Obsidian Entertainment. No doubt the survival game genre is a somewhat crowded one, but adding a dose of Honey has us pretty excited to check this out.

Development bank stops giving loans for fossil fuel projects
Colin Roche, a campaigner at Friends of the Earth Europe , called the decision "a significant victory for the climate movement". Although the European Commission had pushed for more gas to be included, in the end it supported the proposal.

And to quash the knee-jerk reactionary types out there, Microsoft notes, "RPGs like The Outer Worlds will always be in Obsidian's DNA, but from time to time we want to stretch our creative muscles and try things that might be a little different".

"We first saw Grounded in development previous year when Obsidian Entertainment joined our team".

Grounded comes to Xbox Game Preview, Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft Store, and Steam in Spring 2020.
