Trump Reacts to Those 'Witness Tampering' Claims

"We'll have a lot of things to talk about, but we're with you all the way", Trump said, according to a rough summary of the call. This is open-and-shut consciousness of guilt.

Yovanovitch said she was ousted in May over "false claims" spread by questionable actors allied to Trump.

"The question before us is not whether Donald Trump could recall an American ambassador with a stellar reputation for fighting corruption in Ukraine", said House intelligence committee chairman Adam Schiff, "but why would he want to?"

But for the fact that Schiff read the presidents tweet to the witness during the course of the hearing, she would have not known about the tweet.

If he can not come, Trump said, "we will have somebody, at a minimum, at a very, very high level, and they will be with you".

Democrats are looking into whether Trump abused his power by withholding $391m in U.S. security aid to Ukraine as leverage to pressure Kyiv to investigate Joe Biden, who is also a leading contender for the Democratic nomination to take on Trump in the 2020 election. "I think Ambassador Yovanovitch is a public servant, like many of our public servants in the foreign service".

Fox News host Bret Baier tweeted on the possible consequences for Trump of his reckless tweet: "She was already a sympathetic witness & the president's tweet ripping her allowed Schiff to point it out real time characterizing it as witness tampering or intimidation - adding an article of impeachment real-time".

Asked to comment on Democratic claims of witness intimidation, Jordan said: "The witness is testifying".

Taylor said an aide at the embassy in Kiev overheard the call between Trump and US Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, in which Trump asked about the status of the "investigations".

"The battle lines have largely been drawn and people have made up their minds". "We learned a long time ago that despite the wishes of even his own staff, Trump is never going to simply stop tweeting".

Dominic Thiem has been supreme in our group, made life hard for both of us, and made it so that it was victor goes through. Maybe even Basel because I ran through the tournament there", he added, referring to the title in his hometown last month.

Representative Jim Himes, a Connecticut Democrat and a member of the intelligence committee conducting the hearings, explained the shift: "English words are easier to understand than Latin words".

He also defended his decision to pull her from her post, arguing the US president has an "absolute right to appoint ambassadors" who serve "at the pleasure of the President".

On Wednesday, the White House said the president was not watching the impeachment hearings.

She said it was a bad moment.

Mr Trump suggested that Ms Yovanovitch's earlier work as a U.S. diplomat in Somalia was linked to the country's decades of catastrophic instability. "Ukrainians who preferred to play by the old, corrupt rules sought to remove me", she said.

"What continues to amaze me is that they found Americans willing to partner with them and, working together, they apparently succeeded in orchestrating the removal of a USA ambassador".

Ms Yovanovitch was removed as ambassador to Kyiv in May.

She said Mr Giuliani had started working to discredit her while attempting to push Ukraine into two investigations that would benefit Mr Trump.

They testified in defence of Yovanovitch amid what Kent called Giuliani's "smear" campaign against her; about the dangers of abandoning Ukraine as it faces Russian Federation; and of what Taylor called an "irregular channel" of foreign policy orchestrated by the president's lawyer and carried out by other Trump allies. "If our chief representative is kneecapped, it limits our effectiveness to safeguard the vital national security interests of the United States".
