Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar stable and recovering

The 90-year-old singer was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Monday, following a bout of breathing difficulty.

Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar has been in hospice care for past 5 days.

Lata Mangeshkar's niece Rachana had spoken to India Today soon after she was admitted to the hospital.

Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar is on her way to recovery after being hospitalised for viral chest congestion and is "doing good" on Saturday. "Thank you for your prayers and support", an official statement had stated earlier. Her sister Asha Bhosle was photographed at the hospital later that day. She has pneumonia and chest infection.

Though the past week, family members have ensured that Lata Mangeshkar's health updates are shared regularly. "Lata didi is stable and getting better", Srinivasan Iyer said. While fans and well-wishers have been praying for her speedy recovery, some fake messages have been doing the rounds claiming that the senior singer is already dead. Being a singer, her lung capacity has pulled her through. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror Dr. Samdani had said, "Unless her infection gets under control, we can not do any procedures". We look forward to take her home as she gets well. She has sung in more than 1,000 Hindi films as well as in various regional and foreign languages.

Lata Mangeshkar has received the Bharat Ratna - India's highest civilian honour - and the Padma Vibhushan, the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Lata Mangeshkar's last complete album was for 2004 Bollywood release Veer-Zaara.
