Transcript Of Trump's First Call With Zelensky Blows Up Impeachment Narrative

But in the phone call released Friday, much of which is formal congratulations and small talk, Trump tells Zelenskyy: "We will see you, very soon, regardless".

"I guess they wanted to have business dealings in Ukraine, or different business dealings", she said.

Yovanovitch was appointed to serve as ambassador to Kyrgyzstan and then Armenia by President George W. Bush, and as ambassador to Ukraine by President Barack Obama before she was removed from the position by Trump earlier this year.

"Well, I agree with you about your country, and I look forward to it", Trump said. "I'm very curious to know what Bolton has to say".

As we discussed the other day, one innocuous call doesn't negate the more scandalous phone meeting that occurred a few months later.

The impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump marked a major turning point on Wednesday when William Taylor, the top USA diplomat to Ukraine, and George Kent, assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs, testified before the House Intelligence Committee.

The White House made a record of the conversation public at the start of the House impeachment hearing on Friday.

Rep. Adam Schiff, a Democrat from California and the committee's chairman, and Rep. Devin Nunes, the top Republican on the panel, will start the hearing with their opening statements.

Former ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch is scheduled to testify before the House Intelligence Committee. Trump also invited Zelensky to Washington, D.C.

Nike calls off pilot program with Amazon
Nike's participation had signalled that Amazon was taking the concerns of major brands seriously. The announcement was a setback for Amazon, which has been trying to lure big brands to its site.

Zelensky has not visited the White House to date.

The April 21 call aboard Air Force One predated a controversial conversation in July between Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Democrats allege showed evidence of a "quid pro quo" - namely an investigation of a Trump political opponent in exchange for a public meeting between the presidents.

The House investigation seeks to determine if Trump used promised military aid to Kiev as leverage to persuade Ukrainian President Zelensky to dig up dirt on Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. She has served both Democratic and Republican presidents. After the inauguration, Trump told advisers in the Oval Office that Ukraine tried to hurt his candidacy, was a bad country and to "talk to Rudy".

Sondland said in his closed-door testimony he did not "recall" the conversation.

Americans are deeply entrenched in two camps over impeachment, resulting in a mounting political battle that will further test the nation in one of the most polarizing eras of modern times. Trump, being Trump, made note of how impressed he is with his own accomplishments, highlighted his previous ownership of the Miss Universe pageant, congratulated the new Ukrainian president on his election victory, and assured Zelensky, "W$3 e're with you all the way".

"What I could say is the tone in the call on the 21st of April was very positive, in my assessment", Vindman said.

Trump calls the probe a hoax and says he did nothing wrong. State Department officials have testified they valiantly tried for months to schedule a meeting but could not because of the president's feelings toward Ukraine and his desire to have politically motivated investigations opened in the country.

Yovanovitch is expected to testify about her ouster, which another diplomat has called a "smear" campaign against her by Trump allies.
