Blazers sign Anthony to non-guaranteed deal

His tenure with the Rockets lasted just 10 games before the two sides made a decision to part ways, and it took just about a year for Anthony to find another landing spot despite his clear interest in returning to basketball.

National Basketball Association insider Adrian Wojnarowski dropped an unexpected Woj Bomb on Thursday night, reporting Anthony has signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Anthony, per Wojnarowski, will be brought on to help out in that regard on a non-guaranteed deal and will join the team on their coming road trip.

Anthony's short-lived stint in Houston lasted just 10 games as he averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting 40.5% from the field and 32.8% from beyond the arc.

While Anthony held his own in ten contests with the Rockets in 2018-19, two of them starts, the team opted to cancel the experiment and traded the former All-Star to the Chicago Bulls.

Trail Blazers' star Damian Lillard has long had a public desire to play alongside Anthony in Portland but was not optimistic it would happen.

Anthony is not the player he was at his peak, back when he was amid the most dynamic scorers to ever perform the game. He has averaged 24 points in 16 seasons.

Portland is lagging toward the bottom of the Western Conference standings with a 4-8 record, having lost its past two games.

Anthony fills a need for the Blazers, who are short-handed at forward.
