Missouri shelter says Narwhal the ‘unicorn puppy’ is happy and healthy

"Our rescue is predominantly (for dogs with) special needs of all kinds", Steffen explained.

Both pups were then brought back to Mac's Mission, which typically houses dogs in much worse condition than either of their new residents.

Narwhal is a little different from the other puppies.

He has a ideal little tail growing out of the middle of his forehead, which is the opposite end from where dogs usually have their tails. "He seems completely healthy other than some usual puppy worms he got meds for", the organization continued in the Facebook post.

In another post, she added: "We think he appreciates not being outside in this bad freezing snow mess".

Heuring's not sure what may have caused the face tail.

She said they have had a dog with five legs, a three-legged dachshund, blind and deaf animals, as well as dogs with cleft palates and mange - but she has never previously seen anything like Narwhal.

The woman was rushed to hospital however didn't survive. "They said they had a pulse, a low pulse, and she just started crying". The website adds: "You may be held liable for injuries or property damage from improperly installed window air conditioners".


Our Narwhal magical unicorn puppy has had so many great people checking in on him this morning.

The shelter said in the post they wanted Narwhal to grow more and to make sure that the extra tail did not become a problem. We think he appreciates not being outside in this bad freezing snow mess.

Steffen says the rescue group has been flooded with requests from people wanting to adopt Narwhal since his picture hit social media. "He's just ridiculous", said Steffen.

"Right now he is pretty much the most unique unbelievable example of what we do here and we are so thankful to have the chance to be part of his journey".

Rochelle Steffen, founder of the Missouri-based Mac's Mission rescue centre, said: "He's literally the most magical thing you've ever seen, and so happy".

"He loves it, he's like, 'who's going to hold me next?'"
