Researchers say fewer children are getting flu shots

Sacramento County Public Health urges everyone to prioritize getting the flu shot this flu season to protect you and your family from the deadly virus.

The flu warning comes as 1,820 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza have hit 54 out of 62 counties and all boroughs of New York City, state data show.

In a three and a half minute video released this week, the Chief Officer of the HSE's South East Community Healthcare (SECH) organisation Kate Killeen White is re-iterating the message that "if you can't get the flu, then you can't spread the flu" - pointing out that vaccine is the only defence against the flu and is the "best shot" for vulnerable people against the life-threatening complications of flu.

Starting at 10am in the morning and finishing at 4pm in the afternoon, DOH-Orange nurses administered a total of 468 Flu vaccines that were available to individuals 6 months and older.

Sanofi representatives said in a written statement that there are no national shortages of the high-dose vaccine, but a delay in virus strain selection this year delayed production and shipping schedules.

In injury news, Daniel Theis hurt his finger in the first few minutes of the game, and seemed pretty limited after that. He's shooting 48.0 percent from the field, 32.1 percent from beyond the arc and 83.6 percent from the free-throw line.

People who are pregnant should get a flu shot to protect themselves and their baby.

Children who need two doses of vaccine to be protected should start the vaccination process sooner, because the two doses must be given at least four weeks apart. I hope that every healthcare worker in the South East considers getting vaccinated this year. "We called another pharmacy and they said they also didn't have it".

And as flu season escalates, Mick Bolduc, DPH epidemiologist and vaccine coordinator, said people should get some type of vaccine instead of waiting any longer for a specialty kind. If you get the flu, antiviral drugs can be used to treat your illness. Flu symptoms may come on quickly and include fever, headache, extreme tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

"Flu is spread from person to person". The flu can be very unsafe.

Getting the flu vaccine is especially important for people who are at high risk of serious complications from the flu, including adults age 65 and older, people with a weakened immune system, and those who have certain health conditions like heart disease or asthma.
