Rep. Jim Jordan appointed to impeachment committee to defend Trump

The Ohio congressman is now the ranking Republican on the House Oversight Committee and has attended most of the closed-door impeachment hearings so far, but as a member of the Intelligence Committee he will be able to question witnesses. "Specifically, I request that you sit for a closed-door deposition before the House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight Committees". "When it's executed, Rick will rejoin the committee and resume his work to preserve our nation stable". While Opt up. Jordan, a ranking member on the House Oversight and Reform Committee, said Republicans have been asked to submit a list of their witnesses.

"We'll see if he gives us any of our witnesses", Jordan told reporters on Thursday, referring to Schiff.

"Prior to the start of your public show trial next week, at least one additional closed-door deposition must take place", he continued.

Last month, dozens of House Republicans stormed into a private impeachment hearing in the basement of the Capitol, after being barred by Chairman Schiff. "On Wednesday, November 13, 2019, we will hear from William Taylor and George Kent", he added.

The impeachment inquiry, which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi initiated late September over a complaint by an anonymous whistleblower, is looking into White House's alleged efforts to withhold a military aid to have Ukraine investigate a Trump's political rival Joe Biden. The House Intelligence Committee this week released four transcripts.
