Italian police confirmed that there was a brawl in front of an Irish pub which was followed by the stabbing of a 52-year-old on Wednesday.

Italian police have said that one of the pair remains in hospital, while another has been discharged.

Two Celtic fans have been stabbed by Lazio supporters and hospitalized ahead of the teams' Europa League match.

With 20 minutes to go Celtic looked dead and buried against Lazio in Glasgow but a dramatic 93rd minute victor gave them an unlikely victor in a match they probably didn't deserve to win.

It is suspected that some hardcore "ultra" fans of Rome side Lazio were behind the attack. The police also arrived at the scene shortly after.

Celtic had previously issued safety advice to fans amid tensions after the meeting between the clubs in Glasgow last month. Both will receive every support from the club and the British consulate in Rome.

Since that defeat they have been exceptional picking up a hat-trick of wins and they have made the Stadio Olympico a fortress this season with 4 wins and two draws scoring 16 goal in the process.

The Glasgow club and Lazio were charged by Uefa over "illicit chants" heard during their Europa League match on October 24.

"Celtic got a decent point against Rennes away from home in the group opener and backed that up with two big home wins to top the group but I fancy Lazio to nick this one 2-1".

That was Lazio's most recent defeat and subsequent appearances in Serie A have been impressive - victories at Fiorentina and AC Milan and a home win against Torino moved Simone Inzaghi's players to fourth place in the table, one point behind their city rivals, Roma.

In doing so, the Hoops avoided defeat in their opening three games of a Europa League campaign for the first time since 2014-15 and will hope to remain unbeaten when they visit Rome for tonight's second-leg.
