CM Gautam, Abrar Kazi Arrested for Spot-fixing in KPL

CM Gautam, Abrar Kazi Arrested for Spot-fixing in KPL

Wicket-keeper/batsman C.M. Gautam and Abrar Kazi were arrested in Bangalore by a special unit investigating corruption and fixing in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL). He shifted bases to Goa this season after spending 9 years with Karnataka.

According to reports, Bellary Tuskers captain Gautam and teammate Kazi allegedly accepted Rs 20 lakh for "slow batting" in the KPL final against Hubli Tigers. Then they arrested Bangalore Blasters batsman Nishant Singh Shekhawat for the same crime.

The release further added, "CM Gautam has played Ranji, and IPL for RCB, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Daredevils".

Potential US China trade deal would remove tariffs
The idea of a tariff rollback was not part of the original October "handshake" deal between Chinese Vice Premier Liu He and U.S. The Chinese Commerce Ministry said the two sides would decide how much tariffs would be rolled back in first phase.

Both Gautham and Kazi had been named in their respective state squads for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament, scheduled to begin on Friday. "He has been replaced by Darshan Misal as the captain and we have sent a player Prathamesh as his replacement", Goa Cricket Association secretary Vipul Phadke said. After being involved in the spot-fixing scandal, Belagavi Panthers have found themselves in more trouble with the recent statement issued by the KSCA. So the Tuskers lost the match by 8 runs. CCB officials stated that the duo was paid Rs 20 lakh for "slow batting" during the final of the tournament. Also, they fixed another match against the Bangalore team. The final match of KPL 2019 was played between Hubli and Bellary team. Investigations are still going on and further arrests are likely to happen sooner.

Kazi, a bowling allrounder who also played under Gautam at some point, had a more stop-start career with Karnataka before moving onto Nagaland a year ago and making three 150+ scores as a middle-order batsman.

CCB arrested the Bengaluru Blasters bowling coach Vinu Prasad and Ali Asfak Thara, the owner of the Belagavi Panthers, who were involved in fixing directly. Gautam was a long-term deputy of Vinay Kumar, and stood in for him in three matches 2013, captaining a team with the likes of Robin Uthappa, KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Manish Pandey.
