Tropical Storm Olga Zeroes in on NYC

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

The central Gulf Coast into the Lower Mississippi Valley and western Tennessee Valley could receive 3-6 inches of rain, forecasters said.

The listening area is seeing much needed rainfall to try to put an end to a drought. These rains may produce flash flooding across the central Gulf coast into the lower MS valley. But heavy rains were the immediate threat.

A high temperature near 60 on Sunday will drop to 50 on Monday and the low 40s from Wednesday through the remainder of the week. It caused extensive damage from Cuba to New England and is believed to be the strongest storm to hit the Washington-Baltimore region since hurricane records began in 1851.

The last time a storm formed over the Gulf of Mexico this late in the season was when Juan took shape in 1985, according to Philip Klotzbach, a Colorado State University meteorologist.

Up to eight inches are possible in isolated areas through Saturday and some flooding is possible in low-lying areas. Sunday's forecast is going to be a big improvement from Saturday.

Officials say Tropical Storm Pablo is a small storm that is moving east-southeast. Expect drenching rain for the Notre Dame and Michigan matchup at Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Saturday evening.

While thunder and lightning can not be ruled out for these games in the Midwest, gusty thunderstorms are much less likely north of the Ohio River. At that point, it should wesken quickly as ot moves north thorugh the Mississippi Valley on Saturday.

However, as the cold front lifts farther to the northeast it will take the clouds with it so maybe by the afternoon we could see times of sunshine.

We get a break from both the rain and the wind on Sunday.
