Rohit Sharma continues to torment Proteas in India

Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma have become the first three Indian batsmen to score a double century in the same Test series.

Sharma (108 not out) and Ajinkya Rahane scored at more than five an over after lunch to regain some parity in the match following a good start by the Proteas in the morning session.

For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada took two wickets while Anrich Nortje took one.

He took the single off the second ball of the over to reach 95 and at the same time, the rain started coming down.

Earlier Rabada struck twice to reduce India to 39 for three after the hosts elected to bat first on Saturday, which also saw a large part of the final session lost to bad weather. Rohit is the fifth India opener to amass 500-plus runs in a series.

Japan prays for new 'miracle' in Rugby World Cup knock-outs
Japan's excellent defence with chop tacklers and ball-thieves at the breakdown didn't just start at this tournament. Joseph played against Japan in 1995 and for Japan at the '99 World Cup.

Rohit made 212 and was involved in a 267-run fourth wicket partnership with Ajinkya Rahane to pulverise South Africa's bowling in Ranchi.

By the time drinks were on the field for the first time, India had added 60 runs to their overnight score of 224 for 3 in just 13 overs. In fact, after he got dismissed, the bowler was given applause. Though Dane Piedt created a big stumping chance - against Rahane - which Heinrich Klaasen fluffed, the off-spinner was continued to be treated with disdain.

Rohit Sharma's century included 14 boundaries and four huge sixes. The visiting team now trails by 488 runs. Nortje particularly bowled all over the place, allowing Rohit to easily waltz into his 190s. Eventually, India scored 133 runs in the session at almost 5-an-over in 27 overs.

South Africa could not press home their advantage though and instead Rohit and Rahane were able to rebuild for India.
