Boxing is Not Bindra's Business to Interfere: Mary Kom

Boxing is Not Bindra's Business to Interfere: Mary Kom

It is just a formality. While assuring her, he said that a Minister should not be involved in the selection of players.

"It has took set with me previously also". Perform on the ring, that is the real thing. "If 23-time gold medallist Michael Phelps had to qualify every time for the Olympics, the rest of us must do the same", she said.

The BFI introduced a point-based selection system previous year under which boxers are now being picked on the back of their performances in various graded tournaments and the national camps. "To challenge is easy but to perform is hard", she added.

Zareen started her letter by mentioning her victory at the Thailand Open and also highlighted that she was invited to take part in the trials for Women's World Boxing Championships, but the event was cancelled at the last moment and Mary Kom was selected for the championships. While Mary Kom has proved herself a Champion on countless occasions, it should not come at the cost of shadowing the rising boxers, who are the future of the nation. "The best way I can do justice to this inspiration was to strive to be as great a boxer as her", Zareen said. "He doesn't know the exact rules of boxing", Mary Kom said, adding that boxing is not Abhinav Bindra's "business to interfere". She further added that she is shocked by the controversy.

"I don't talk about shooting, so it is better for him to stay quiet on boxing".

The pastor who has been working with the famed rapper said West told him he was "radically saved" earlier this year. Recently taking his Sunday Service to Salt Lake City, Yeezy confirmed that a full Jesus Is King film was incoming.

Kom also responded to Indian Olympic shooting gold medallist Abhinav Bindra, who backed Zareen's call for a trial in a post on Twitter.

Mary Kom is at the centre of a row over India's selection for the Asian Olympic boxing qualifier for Tokyo 2020, after Nikhat Zareen demanded a trial bout against the six-time world champion. I had defeated Mary Kom in the trials before 2014 Commonwealth Games. Proof that we can be as good as yesterday. Better than yesterday. Better than tomorrows man/woman. "In sports, yesterday NEVER counts".

Both Bindra and Zareen are associated with JSW group in different capacities. In her letter, she said the BFI's rule of exempting gold and silver medallists from the World Cup was being changed to accommodate pugilist Mary Kom, who won a bronze in the tournament.

For selection of men's team, BFI had decided that the medallists of the World Championships will be sent directly to the first Olympic qualifiers to be held in China.

"I maintain now no longer care about all this. There should be gender equality, can't have separate rules for men and women". However, BFI now has chose to call a selection committee meeting next week to discuss Zareen's plea. The Olympic qualifiers will be held in Wuhan from 3 to 14 February next year, and it is possible that the 36-year-old Mary Kom can be elected by the Federation itself.
