Wealth tax takes center stage at Democratic debate

The fourth Democratic Presidential Debate is over, and the most memorable moment may well have been an off-handed bit of condescension from former vice president Joe Biden aimed at MA senator Elizabeth Warren.

The pile-on reinforced her new status as a front-runner in the contest to take on President Donald Trump next year.

Given another opportunity, the MA progressive spent 66 more words not answering. Bernie Sanders call for a dramatic, government-funded overhaul of the insurance market.

Her main rival for the nomination, Joe Biden, has stayed put in the 28% range. "The difference between a plan and a pipe dream is something you can actually get done". "You heard it from Andrew Yang, Mayor Pete (Buttigieg), Amy Klobuchar, where they said one view isn't the only view".

As we seek to answer this question, we'll begin by noting that terminology and question wording matters a lot when pollsters ask Americans for their preferences.

Warren defended her idea during the debate by saying costs will only go up for the wealthy and large businesses.

Sen. Kamala Harris calls out fellow Democratic presidential candidates Sen. Anyone who comes up with points like that is the kind of guy I want to be our next attorney general. "I want to push him out of the White House".

It took place on the campus of Otterbein University, just outside Columbus in OH, one of the nation's toughest electoral battlegrounds, but also a state that has long helped decide presidential elections but has drifted away from Democrats in recent years. He made no stumbles but failed to show the same fire as in previous debates. He was applauded when he thanked supporters and rivals for their good wishes and declared, "I'm feeling great".

The debate touched on foreign policy, too, a subject that has dominated the news in recent weeks as Trump said he was withdrawing most US forces from Syria; Turkey then invaded the northern part of the country to attack Kurdish fighters.

Is the new map as cool as you'd hoped? It features a waterfall, high-speed boat battles, plus characters swimming and fishing. There are also new hideouts (like haystacks and Dumpsters) and the ability to blow up gas tanks and explosive barrels.

Former Louisiana Governor and 2016 Republican presidential candidate Bobby Jindal on Democrats' proposed wealth taxes, the economy and how the short term problems Americans are enduring from the trade war will ultimately be trumped. That prompted Buttigieg, himself a veteran, to respond: "What we are doing or what we were doing in Syria was keeping our word".

"Unfortunately, we had to touch upon impeachment", she says. "It is undermining the honor of our soldiers. You take away the honour of our soldiers, you might as well go after their body armour next". Like Biden, Sanders not long ago was polling higher than Warren.

During the back and forth between Biden and CNN's Cooper, Sen. Still, he struggled to fully explain why his newly promised ethics plan to prevent conflicts of interest involving his relatives wasn't applied to his son Hunter Biden when he was hired in 2014 as a director for a Ukrainian energy company.

Harris was also the best prepared on the impeachment question, quipping about Trump, "I know a confession when I see it". They will go up for big corporations.

"Look, my son did nothing wrong", Biden said. "Except this." Former Vice President Joe Biden accused Warren of being "vague". Some analysts have said it would cost $32 trillion over a decade. When Biden claimed to be the only person on the stage to get big things done, Warren brought up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which she created, and which is a pretty big thing. Banks, the author of "No, I Can't Get You Free Tickets: Lessons Learned From a Life in the Sports Media Industry", regularly appears on WGN CLTV and co-hosts the "Let's Get Weird, Sports" podcast on SB Nation.

Warren has fueled her rise with her detailed policy proposals and a warm, personable style that has quieted some of the criticism that has been leveled at her in the past as being pedantic and hard-edged.

She also went on the attack. Warren backers I respect love to see her thumb her nose at MSM nostrums like this-and they could be right. "I'm sorry, Elizabeth, you have not said that and I think we owe it to the American people to tell them where we're going to send the invoice".

Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg spar over how to protect people from gun violence, and debate the merits of a gun buyback program.

One sure sign of your piñata-ness is when candidates direct Why-Don't-You questions to you that could be directed to anybody else.
