Minnesota Doctors gear up for flu season

This year primary school children up to year six will be given the flu vaccine at school to protect them, and any vulnerable adults they come into contact with, from the virus.

The vaccine is being distributed to physicians now, but pharmacies won't receive it from the Ministry of Health until November.

Martian says he believes companies do a good job with advertising, making those 65 and older believe they can only get the high dose vaccine when its not the case.

Bhowmick: Besides protecting you from common strains of the flu, the vaccine will lessen the severity of symptoms if you contract a strain that was not included.

"In fact, you can come on Friday to a drive-thru flu shot here at the health unit, no out of pocket expenses, so you sit in your vehicle, you pull up your sleeve, you get a shot, and we make it as easy as possible, and we give very good shots here".

Public Health said the shot is safe and one of the most effective ways to avoid getting the flu.

Browns Release Statement On Myles Garrett Fan Incident
Garrett, selected by the Browns with the fifth overall pick out of the 2017 draft, has 20 tackles through six games this season. Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Myles Garrett said Wednesday on social media that he was attacked by a fan.

Cennimo: Common symptoms include fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea.

There are a couple of other groups who are also more likely to get the flu.

The symptoms associated with the flu range from unpleasant to very serious.

Every year, approximately 23,000 Canadians become seriously ill from the flu and require hospitalization. The senior's vaccine is only available from your doctor or from Public Health.

The flu also hospitalised almost one million people (959,134), and a total of 48 million people contracted the flu overall.

Each winter, several million Europeans catch the flu, which can have grave consequences for older or fragile people if complications should arise, such as lung infections. It can also be spread when a person touches surfaces that are infected with the virus. People with other chronic conditions also fare worse when they have the flu.
