No more boundary countback as ICC change Super Over regulations

England scripted the history as they claimed their first-ever World Cup title in July this year.

In other development, the ICC's Cricket Executive Committee has agreed to use the Super Over as a way to decide results at ICC events will be retained.

THE domestic cricket family heaved a huge sigh of relief on Monday after the International Cricket Council reinstated Zimbabwe as a full member of its global cricket family. The ICC ruled that the SRC were in breach of their statutes regarding "government interference" and voted unanimously to suspend Zimbabwe until the decision was reversed.

Zimbabwe will now be able to take up their place in the ICC Men's U-19 World Cup in January and the ICC Super League later in 2020. A major section of the audiences including New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham had shared their disappointment with respect to the Kiwis losing the final match in such a manner.

"Both the Cricket Committee and CEC agreed it was an exciting and engaging conclusion to the game and will remain in place covering all games at both ODI and T20I World Cups".

The ICC resolved that in semi-finals and finals in future world tournaments, more Super Overs will be played if the teams score the same number of runs in their Super Overs. Group stage matches that are tied after a Super Over will be recorded as a tie. ICC had also backed the Sri Lankan umpire over the issue.

The ICC board also confirmed a $30.5 million funding to be allocated for Associate Members for 2020, a 12 percent increase from 2019. Had the rule been in place for this year's World Cup, England and New Zealand would have played another over to decide the victor.

The change will now see a super over in a final repeated until a team has more runs.

"Creating a Women's U19 event also improves the pathway available to young cricketers and ensures they have the same opportunities as their male counterparts".

Meanwhile, the ICC has included Pakistan Cricket Board's chairman Ehsan Mani of recently established Governance Working Group.
