Porsche Taycan 4S revealed

Porsche Taycan 4S revealed

Porsche is extending its electric sports saloon's range with the addition of the new Taycan 4S, which slots below the Turbo and Turbo S.

As standard, the new Taycan 4S is fitted with a 79.2 kWh battery pack, which provides a 252-mile (405 km) driving range. On Monday morning, Porsche filled in the blank many of us were waiting for with news that the next Taycan variant, called the Taycan 4S, will arrive in Spring 2020.

Like its senior Turbo and Turbo S siblings, both battery versions of the Taycan 4S are all-wheel drive with one drive motor on each axle, the rear axle working through a two-speed transmission.

Regardless of battery size, the 4S offers through-the-road all-wheel drive from a pair of electric motors, and it takes 3.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour from a stop.

The just-announced 4S combines a 530hp version of the 800v Taycan's electric system with a range of up to 288 miles - and, no less significantly, a new model starting price of £83,367.

When you eliminate a player, they will respawn as an undead version of their legend and join the Shadow Squad . Basically, the event items will now be easier to obtain, as Event Packs will no longer reward duplicate items.

Porsche's Turbo models have always been among the more exclusive, expensive models from the German sports-car maker, and now this ring true for its Taycan electric vehicle, too: Not all Taycans will be Turbos. The two-layer Performance Battery Plus from the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo with a capacity of 93.4 kWh is available as an option.

The Taycan 4S uses the same powertrain layout as the Turbo and Turbo S models. However, the rear motor is 80mm shorter than it is in the Turbo and Turbo S, while it also receives smaller brakes, down to 360mm and six pistons on the front and 358mm and four pistons at the rear. Charging options will be the same as the other Taycans; at an 800-volt DC fast-charging station, charging from 5% to an 80% state of charge can take just 22 minutes. Adaptive air suspension is also included.

This comes courtesy exterior bodywork unique to the Taycan 4S, which is largely the same as those on the Turbo save for black trim on the lower edges of the front apron and rear diffuser, as well as side sills. The Turbo, meanwhile, has 20-inch wheels (21s on the Turbo S), and Porsche's Surface-Coated brakes are standard. The 4S comes with ambient interior lighting, partial-leather interior, and eight-way power-adjustable front comfort seats with driver memory.

With the Taycan, Porsche offers an entirely leather-free interior for the first time. Prices in the U.S. start at $103,800 for the Taycan 4S with the Performance Battery, and $110,380 for the Taycan 4S equipped with the Performance Battery Plus.

The previously-unveiled Turbo and Turbo S models start at $152,250 and $186,350, respectively, after the aforementioned destination charge.
