Maine Flu Season Could be One of The Worst

Children younger than 6 months should not get the vaccine. Some people experience mild reactions to the shot, but any claims that the shot will give you the flu are just nonsense. In the 2018-19 flu season, ME had 10,418 confirmed cases of the flu and 48 flu-related deaths, compared to 9,050 cases and 82 deaths in 2017-18. "It's always good to get your shots and get some protection against the very serious disease".

The at risk groups include people aged 65 and over, pregnant women, and people with long term medical conditions or whose immune system is impaired due to medical treatment. "It really is important for everyone to have a flu shot to protect those who can't get their flu shot for various reasons, so the more people that we're able to vaccinate, the healthier that we are as a community". "This year, we have joined the Influenza College Challenge, put on by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Arizona Partnership for Immunizations, to encourage college students throughout Arizona to get vaccinated".

In its Facts about flu, the organisation reminds that the virus causes deaths and hospitalisation every year.

Influenza immunization clinics will start the week of October 21 across the province, and health officials issued a reminder to Albertans Friday to get the vaccine as flu season approaches. Even local offices, such as the Grants Pass Clinic, are waiting for more flu shots. "They have the highest rate of fatality", Dr. Morris said. The flu shot was 47 percent effective for 2018-19, according to the U.S. CDC, and in recent years has typically between 40 to 60 percent effective.

They traveled to San Diego in 2015 with Michael Vick - who wasn't even with the team until the end of training camp - starting. But after the Steelers traded away Josh Dobbs , they signed Hodges , a Walter Payton Award victor , to the practice squad.

Each year, researchers predict what strains might make people sick.

Staff at hospitals and doctors surgeries across our region are getting their flu vaccinations in preparation for the winter months.

Humboldt residents with a valid health card can get their flu shot on Tuesday, Oct. 22 and Wedensday, Oct. 23 at the St. Augustine Parish Centre from 2 p.m.to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the same place from 4 p.m.to 7 p.m.

The CDC also has a website that allows you to find the closest place to get a flu shot.
