The news of significant investment will come as a welcome relief to the club's supporters, having seen their side drop to within just two points of the Premier League's relegation places prior to the worldwide break, with league leaders Liverpool next up for the struggling Red Devils. Solskjaer apparently has planned for Mason Greenwood to break through, for Marcus Rashford to display his skills, and for Anthony Martial to have more opportunities as first-choice center-forward. His strength and awareness are his top attributes, but he has struggled when it comes to the pace of the Premier League.

Lukaku and Sanchez were eventually sent out to Inter Milan, but the coach was indignant of not finding a replacement striker to stay consistent with his three-year plan.

Rose would be a good signing for United as he has experience of playing in the Premier League and is a player who could add something in attack and defence for the English club.

"They have the talent in the young players but at the same time, you need someone like Mario Mandzukic".

"They haven't got the players, they're simply not good [enough]", Owen told Premier League Productions.

Michael Owen claims Manchester United's supposed stars are "getting worse", with a squad that has seen considerable investment "devaluing" with each passing performance to leave only three players that should have a long-term future at the club.

He even went as far as suggesting Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo - widely accepted as the best players in the world - would have problems with the current Manchester United team.

Before the close of the last transfer window in Europe, Mandzukic nearly completed a move to Manchester United, but he eventually stayed in Turin.

United are hoping that responsibilities within the club are distributed evenly, which we assume is their way of easing the burden off of Solskjaer.
