Rudy Giuliani invited to testify about Ukraine

"I have heard on numerous occasions disturbing allegations by Rudy Giuliani about corruption in Ukraine and the many improprieties surrounding the firing of former Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin", the South Carolina Republican senator said. Giuliani has drawn massive scrutiny over his media tours in defense of the president, the latest of which, he used to proclaim Trump has "every right" to ask foreign powers to investigate Biden. Democrats leading the House impeachment inquiry are focusing on whether Trump threatened to withhold aid to Ukraine and other considerations including a meeting unless the government investigated Biden's actions regarding Ukraine when he was in office.

Trump, in his July 25 phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, had recommended that Zelenskiy contact Giuliani for guidance on allegations regarding Biden and his son. This could be a particular point of controversy, as he as vacillated between saying his work in Ukraine was in his personal capacity as the President's attorney and then later claiming he was tasked with the job by the U.S. State Department. In a Sunday appearance on Face the Nation, Graham said the whistleblower complaint that sparked the House's impeachment inquiry was a "political setup"; he expressed his support for appointing a special prosecutor to "look into whether or not Joe Biden had [Viktor Shokin] fired and in a proper way".
