Antonio Brown goes after National Football League owners: 'They can just void guarantees anytime'

The NFL, meanwhile, has released the following statement on Brown's status.

Brown also announced on Twitter that he is done playing in the NFL.

Antonio Brown, the beleaguered wide receiver who was cut by the New England Patriots on Friday after 11 days with the team, tweeted Sunday morning that he is done with the NFL.

Although he's being sued, Brown has never been arrested or charged in any cases related to sexual misconduct. The two formed one of the most formidable offensive duos in the league for years but fell out when Brown left the Steelers earlier this year.

Per Andrew Brandt of TheMMQB, $5 million of that guaranteed money in Brown's signing bonus was due on or before September 23, 2019 and $4 million was due on or before Jan 1, 2020.

Brown, who was released by the six-time Super Bowl winners on Friday, is now subject to harassment and rape allegations, which he denies. As is standard in contracts, the Patriots included language where they could void his guarantees if he engaged in conduct that damaged the image of the team. Brown had previously been accused by a former trainer of multiple instances of rape and sexual assault.

Brown caught four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown in his lone game for the Patriots last week.

Screenshots of the texts allegedly include Brown sending a photo of the accuser's children, as well as instructions to associates to "look up her background history".

He played in one game, then was released after the team learned he tried to intimidate a second woman who accused him of sexual misconduct. "The investigation is ongoing and will be pursued vigorously and expeditiously". Brown also seemed to condone the behavior of Patriots fans who are threatening a Sports Illustrated writer who published a story bringing light to Brown's troubling history.
