The Giants abruptly end the Eli Manning era

When the New York Giants announced Eli Manning would sit and rookie QB Daniel Jones would take his place, the reaction was pretty universal: There were tributes flying in everywhere even though many of those same people knew it was time for Manning to be benched.

Despite all of this, it was still surprising when the Giants revealed on Tuesday that they would be benching Manning in favor of rookie Daniel Jones.

According to SNY's Ralph Vacchiano, Manning "has no immediate plans to waive" his no full no-trade clause, which would prevent the Giants from flipping Manning for a draft pick from a quarterback-desperate team before the October 29 trade deadline. The Giants started their season 0-2 and it's enough to make NY make a drastic change. He has four children under the age of 8, so you can certainly understand why he would be hesitant to uproot his family for an opportunity to earn a starting job elsewhere. Former teammate and two-time Super Bowl champion, Osi Umenyiora, is the latest to defend Manning and also believes that the team didn't surround Eli with enough talent. Manning, who would eclipse the 4,000-yard barrier for the first time in his career that season, threw second quarter touchdown passes to Mario Manningham and Hakeem Nicks in New York's 44-7 rout of Oakland. I randomly wore that when the Giants started their Superbowl run that year. "I think obviously now the roles are different and they'll be some difference there".

"The bulk of his work, in our eyes, happens behind the scenes", Shurmur said. Now, people can't wait for Jones to get his start for the Giants.

Tour Bus With Josh Turner's Crew Involved in Fatal Crash
The bus appears to have driven off Highway 46 near McMillan Canyon Road, according to CHP's traffic incident report page . The bus was driving east in the right, slow lane of the highway at about 55 to 60 miles per hour , the CHP said.

"We've got a heck of an opponent this week", Arians said.

We know the coach Pat Shurmur likes him. "And the reason I say that is because we do everything we can to win football games, and at this point, we feel like he's the guy we wanna move forward with". Should he be inducted into the Hall of Fame? "And this is what I've been told, and I'll handle it", he said matter-of-factly.

Plenty of eyeballs will be on Jones as he makes his debut as an National Football League starter on Sunday, but legacies are an integral part of sports, and admission to the Hall of Fame is the neatest way to evaluate an athlete's legacy.
