Ron Rivera walks out of press conference after Cam Newton injury questions

Newton initially suffered the foot injury during the preseason.

Head coach Ron Rivera cut his press conference short on Thursday after he received repeated questions about quarterback Cam Newton.

Cam Newton's re-aggravated mid-foot sprain has kept him from practicing, and will likely keep him from playing on Sunday. While Hurney said Newton is day-to-day, he also intimited there's no firm timline now for Cam, per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic. The QB was not at practice today and the team is preparing for backup Kyle Allen to be the starter.

"I just asked you to ask questions about somebody else", Rivera said. To have that immediately followed by a question about Newton, well, he didn't appreciate that at all. I mean, I haven't really talked about Arizona, so it would be good to answer those kind of questions.

The nominee, who does not necessarily have to be the head of the largest party, has up to 42 days to form a government. That could be a far cry from the secular unity authorities Mr Gantz campaigned for in the course of the election.

When a reporter brought up Newton in the next question, Rivera responded: "I won't know any more until tomorrow so let's talk about Arizona".

Moving forward, it will be interesting to see how Newton and the Panthers handle this latest setback. Sunday could possibly be a reunion of sorts for Allen, who battled Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray for the starting role at Texas A&M in 2015.

Carolina next plays the Arizona Cardinals on September 22 at 4:05 p.m. This year, Newton has yet to throw a touchdown pass for the 0-2 Panthers.
