Wi-Fi Alliance Start Certifying Next Gen 802.11ax Wireless Kit

Wi-Fi Alliance, the non-profit entity that oversees implementation of the Wi-Fi standard, officially launches the Wi-Fi 6 certification program.

The first smartphones that support Wi-Fi 6 are the Samsung Galaxy Note10, plus the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, the latter which go on sale this Friday.

Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 6 supports a variety of devices and applications, from those fit for enterprise environments to those requiring low power and can provide up to four times the capacity of Wi-Fi 5. Come home to a virtually flawless smart home experience or throw house parties with a network built to handle all your guests and their devices. So this is a clear sign that Wi-Fi 6 has arrived.

ON Semiconductor (Quantenna) has also released a Wi-Fi 6 reference design router named "Spartan" based on its 8×8 MU-MIMO, 12-stream Wi-Fi 6 chipset.

The Wi-Fi Alliance made recommendations for countermeasures to address the researchers' findings, but in August, Vanhoef and Ronen found a new set of weaknesses spawned by the recommended countermeasures.

A Battlestar Galactica Reboot Is in the Works on NBC’s Streaming Service
Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until April 2020 , when the new streaming service launches, for answers. The hit series, which aired on NBC from 1989 to 1993, is finally getting a sequel.

Target Wake Time (TWT) allows devices to negotiate when and how often they will wake up to send or receive data, increasing device sleep time and substantially improving battery life for mobile and IoT devices. LitePoint's IQxel-MW platform can be selected by Wi-Fi Alliance members and Authorized Test Labs as a solution for OFDMA pre-correction testing.

Wi-Fi 6 claims to boost connectivity speeds especially in a crowded network, alongside a theoretical jump in maximum output. The new standard is geared towards better running of huge enterprise Wi-Fi networks with easier management of multiple connected devices - so it's created to help the network managers out there first rather than individual consumers. 'For almost two decades, Wi-Fi users have had to sort through technical naming conventions to determine if their devices support the latest Wi-Fi, ' said Edgar Figueroa, president and chief executive of the Wi-Fi Alliance, at the time. The new standard offers several improvements over its predecessor WPA2.

"Having been through multiple standards transmissions in the past 20 years of WiFi, the main driver for mainstream adoption is the client devices", Mist's Gilby said. It also helps keep the connection even in the midst of congested public networks such as train stations, airports and more.

Wi-Fi 6-friendly routers from Cisco, Netgear, Asus, and TP-Link are already rolling out the next-gen technology; mesh options for the Netgear Orbi and TP-Link Deco lineups are expected later this year.
