FDA will ban all flavored vapes after news of deadly lung illness

In August, the Trump administration transferred $116 million from agencies within the Department of Homeland Security, including from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, to ICE to pay for more detention beds and transportation. The devices, available in the United States since 2006, work instead by heating a liquid that turns into vapor and is inhaled. Diacetyl, a chemical used to flavor microwave popcorn, has been found to cause an irreversible lung disease with symptoms similar to those of the mysterious illness, and has been used in some liquid nicotine. A lot of people claim that vaping is a risk-free way to get nicotine, but no matter the method, nicotine is still harmful to peoples' health. They say it will take several weeks to develop proposed flavor restrictions-which will be subject to public input before taking effect.

When vaping products came on the market, some people welcomed them as a potentially safer alternative to cigarettes.

No single device, ingredient or additive has been identified.

The administration proposal would only affect nicotine vaping products, which are subject to FDA rules. The Surgeon General reported a year ago that e-cigarette use among young people qualifies as an epidemic. This crisis can't be solved by the government or health officials. "Our Administration supports the removal of flavored e-cigarettes from stores until they're approved by @US_FDA. Clearing the market of non-tobacco-flavored products is important to reverse this alarming epidemic", he continued in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

"While this investigation is ongoing, people should consider not using e-cigarette products", said Dr. Dana Meaney-Delman, incident manager of the CDC's response to the vaping-related lung injuries. But he said that if children begin using those products, "we will take enforcement action there also". Martin Dockrell, of PHE, said there are plans to publish a comprehensive evidence review on the safety of e-cigarettes next year.

A ban on flavors would represent a huge blow to the vaping industry. The vast majority of underage teens consumed fruit, menthol or mint flavors.

New England Patriots: Tom Brady focused on Antonio Brown the player
Earlier on Wednesday, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was asked if Brown will play on Sunday against the Dolphins. New England Patriots player Antonio Brown denies the rape accusations made against him by his former trainer.

When it comes to vaping, it's advised not to buy your products from the street.

In June, San Francisco became the first USA city to ban all sales of battery-powered e-cigarettes, making it illegal to sell nicotine vaporizer products in stores, or for online retailers to ship goods to Bay Area addresses.

Colorado ranked first in teen vaping among states in a survey previous year.

Vickie Meine, interim director of the Iowa Institute of Public Health Research and Policy, recently told the DI that people who vape do not know what chemicals they are breathing in, because e-cigarettes have historically been unregulated. The plan is to ban all non-tobacco flavored vaping products.
