The 19-year-old battled to a 6-3, 7-5 victory in an entertaining final at the US Open in Flushing Meadows.

US veteran tennis player Serena Williams reached the final of the US Open with a bang, beating Serena of Ukraine 6-3, 6-1 in the semifinals.

Her victory at Arthur Ashe Stadium - the site of Williams' first Grand Slam win in 1999 - kept Williams from tying Australia's Margaret Court's all-time record of 24 Grand Slam titles.
