Jadon Sancho makes history with England double against Kosovo

England coach Gareth Southgate praised the "devastating attacking display" from his team - Sancho might have done enough to take one of the spots in the three-man attack off Marcus Rashford - but was clearly unhappy with the defending, with mistakes leading to all of Kosovo's goal.

Tottenham forward Harry Kane scored a hat-trick, with Manchester City's Raheem Sterling also getting his name on the scoresheet.

"In the summer we decided that he wasn't ready to start, so I don't think you can have a player that is undroppable, because that is a unsafe route for any team and it is not a healthy position for a player", Southgate said in his press conference ahead of Tuesday's qualifier against Kosovo.

England overcame the worst possible start to defeat Kosovo in an eight-goal thriller on Wednesday night.

Michael Keane, whose terrible pass had gifted Valon Berisha a well-taken opener after just 35 seconds, made amends with a strong header across the goal from a corner and Sterling was in the flawless place to nod in an equaliser from close range.

The Czech Republic are in second place with nine points after a 3-0 victory in Montenegro.

They are, however, now ranked 120th in the world.

England, defensively, were not good enough - nowhere near the standard that would be acceptable at the highest global level.

I'm taking [Tuesday's] game out of the equation, because I think it will be an enjoyable game, the way they play, the way they press, the passion and enthusiasm they've got.

In fact it might be better not to imagine it. Chilwell, Rose, Alexander-Arnold and Kyle Walker, who is not in this squad, each started one of England's two Nations League finals games in June.

Apple eyes bigger pie with iPhone 11, content streaming and gaming services
The Cupertino, California-based technology giant made the announcement at a Tuesday event focused on new versions of the iPhone. Apple on Tuesday announced its streaming service, Apple TV +, will launch on November 1 and charge $4.99 a month.

Southgate's first choice defenders have not proved reliable against global opposition of the highest quality - and produced no evidence here to suggest they will do so any time soon. Shearer got 30 goals for England... Southgate will not be letting it escape his attention.

Gareth Southgate's side went a goal behind after a mistake from Michael Keane before scoring five before the interval. Very often you work with the team and it's easy to find what they can't do well.

And at the heart of it all was the brilliant Sterling, who produced a 45-minute performance against Kosovo that was simply on another level from anyone else.

The result puts England firmly in control of Group A on 12 points, with the Three Lions next in action against Czech Republic on October 11.

"I will see tomorrow because with Kosovo we are young, we are a young federation, never have we played against such an opponent".

And England's talisman Harry Kane gave his side the lead after 19 minutes.

It started a run of three goals in seven minutes.

England had the chance to re-extend their advantage to three goals when they were given a penalty of their own, but Muric saved well from Kane.

In the end it was not costly as Kosovo's courageous attempt at a miracle turnaround fell short and England can look at a Group A table with a flawless appearance.

"We're delighted to be coming down to Southampton to play", he added.
